Gout occurs when uric acid crystals accumulate in the joints.
Gout is a type of arthritis that causes intensely painful, sudden inflammation attacks & it occurs when your body’s uric acid reaches abnormally high levels. Uric acid is a waste product which accumulates in your body when you consume excessive amounts of purine-rich foods & beverages like shellfish, beer, liver & red meat.
Overtime, the accumulated uric acid crystallises & hardens in the joints thereby causing gout.
Common gout symptoms are:
- Swollen, sensitive big toe
- Inflamed, red, warm & painful joints
- Oversensitivity & tenderness
